Amazon Associates and Google Blogger Now Integrated

Amazon Associates & BloggerToday we are excited to announce Amazon Associates for Blogger, a direct integration between Amazon Associates and Blogger. This new collaboration enables Bloggers to monetize their content by adding relevant Amazon products to their blog posts without interrupting the blog editing process. Amazon Associates for Blogger is available now available here on Associates Central. Amazon Associates who don’t have a Google Blogger account can set up a free Blogger account with their Associates ID and start earning right away.

The new tool allows Bloggers to add links and images to their blog posts in just 2 easy steps:

1.Bloggers highlight the relevant text and the Amazon Product Finder will search Amazon’s millions of products and recommend the ones that are most closely associated with the text

2.Bloggers can then insert a link or image to that product which includes their Associates ID, enabling them to earn up to 15% in referral fees from Amazon

Life After Adsense, What To Do When Adsense Starts To Suck Ass

Adsense Sucks AssNow anyone who has a website that receives consistent traffic over a long period of time and uses Google AdSense to monetize their traffic have noticed a few things. In the beginning the earnings are really good for a couple months, they have higher payouts depending on the time of year, and the click through rates are much higher in the beginning. Over time all of these things change and in many cases depending on the topic of your website the changes in the earnings are so drastic that it does not make sense to even continue to use Google AdSense as a primary income stream. As a matter fact you might want to consider removing AdSense all together in order to find new ways to make money with your blog or website.

So Whats The Cause Of These Changes?

Ad Inventory: The most obvious reason for the drop in earnings is that the ad inventory for AdSense has gone down, when the economy took a turn for the worst so did the Ad rates and not just for AdSense but for all Ad Networks across the board. Advertisers have much smaller budgets to work with thus Google AdSense has to lower there rates, now of course there are some exceptions to the rule such has the health industry and few other markets that still have healthy ad payouts but they are few and far between. I can tell you from personal experience working in the music industry that music and entertainment related websites and blogs are not making much from AdSense, last year my hip hop blog was making a full time income and this year even with more traffic the site isn’t even making half what it made last year. In fact AdSense has become a third tier income stream for that site.

Ad Formats and Placements: Believe it or not this plays a major part in how well Google AdSense performs on your website, depending on your site design and what ad formats you use, it will directly affect how much money you will make. The best way to figure out which site design, ad formats and positions will perform the best. I suggest you setup three different variations of your website (Designs), run each different design with different ad formats and ad positions. Run each variation for at least a week depending on your traffic, if you have a high traffic website you can make it less than a week. This is split testing in it’s simplest form. To know exactly what your visitors are interacting with on your website I suggest you check out CrazyEgg, it’s a really sick analytic tool that gives you a visual view of your website with a heat map overlay that shows exactly where your visitors and their mouses went and where they didn’t go.

PicAdMedia.com Make Money From The Images On Your Site

PicAdMediaEven though sites like Youtube stream 1.2 billion videos per day it still pales in comparison to how many images are viewed on the web daily, yet there is still no company to successfully monetize images. Of course sites like IstockPhoto and ShutterStock make millions from selling images but that business model only works for a few. Websites, blogs and social sites with millions of images can’t benefit from that business model. This is where in-image/in-picture advertising comes in, which is an idea that works similar in-video advertising where an overlay ad is placed on top of the image. Now the concept of making money from images by means of In-Picture Advertising is not a new thing, BritePic (A product of Adbrite) was one of the first services to offer a monetization model for images but the model’s possible success was hindered by the inconvenient method of implementing the ads into your images. The idea is that you would have to log into BritePic or Adbrite and manually ad your images which would return a embed code for you to place on your website. The problem here is that the code is javascript and it generates a flash version of your image, this means Google or any other search engine would not be able to pick up those images which means less traffic and if you have a website with allot of images your already aware that a significant percentage of your traffic is accredited to the images on your site. Secondly this is a time consuming method not to mention that all the images already on your site will not benefit from the method.

Introducing PicAdMedia

About a month ago I received a email from someone over at PicAdMedia inviting me to a private Beta testing of there new In-Picture Advertising service, as soon as I saw “In Picture Advertising” I remembered BritePic and I deleted the email. For about 3 weeks from time to time I continued to receive emails from them, they eventually wore me down so before I decided on adding them to the spam list I went to check there service out. After signing up and checking out the dashboard I quickly realized that the method by which they place the ads on websites was completely different from BritePic’s and adheres to standards of web usability. I decided to test out the service on my hip hop music blog HipHopMusicDotCom since it had the most images on it.

I'm Sorry but Kontera Sucks, Don't Even Waste Your Time.

kontera-logoTo be honest Kontera was never my first choice when it came to In-Text Ads, but after Vibrant Media turned me down there wasn’t any other company other than Kontera that look promising. I signed up with Kontera late 2007 and I added it to my music site Hip Hop Music Dot Com, It was up and running for about 2 months but then I ended up changing my theme and forgot to place the code back on my site, which was probably due to the earnings not being very impressive.

9 months into 2008 Kontera contacts me talking about joining there program unaware that I was already affiliated with them. I told them I already tried the program and the results were less than mediocre. They told me that there ad inventory had grown drastically since the previous year and that they had a special promotion going on. I decided to give them a shot to see what was up and I must admit the ads were most certainly performing better than before. I was averaging about 300 clicks daily and that’s along side my Google Adsense earnings which were not affected, From October going into December of 2008 the earnings were really good and started to think well maybe Kontera could become a long term income stream.

Why Goolge Adsense Pays Some Websites More Than Others

The other day my earnings for my hip hop music blog (HipHopMusicDotCom.com) doubled, the funny thing is the traffic remained the same there was no spike and the amount of clicks I received wasn’t any different from any other day, so what changed? I’ve learned that the earnings you make from Google Ads depend on the quality and the amount of ad inventory Google has at any particular moment in time and not on the amount of clicks your ads receive. My hip hop blog gets anywhere from 40,000 to 60,000 page views daily and I receive quite a few clicks but then my music video blog (MusicVideoCast.com) only receives on average 10,000 page views with far less clicks than HipHopMusiccDotCom.com but manages to match it’s earnings.google-earnings

So the type of site you have also plays a role in the amount of Money you’ll make with Google Adsense. For instance lets say I was running a blog about health care coupled with the type of traffic I receive to my hip hop blog, my earnings would most certainly triple what I’m making now because the ad inventory for health care is bigger and the amount of money advertisers are paying for those ads is much higher sometimes even as much as ten dollars per click. A simple rule of thumb to go by is the more money advertisers have to pay for keywords for a particular type of content the more money Adsense publishers will make if there site caters to that particular type of content.

Makes me wish I knew something about health care…..LOL

This guy is not such a jerk; he is a realist like myself and takes the internet for what is (another medium for making money), he does not spend time trying to brainwash you into thinking the internet is this magical place that cranks out millions of dollars into your bank account without and effort.

The Rich Jerk mostly covers the profit potential of creating affiliate websites, and instead of simply just talking about the oh so very popular arena of internet marketing, he tells you about many different ways to make money as an affiliate marketer for both digital and physical products.

He also gives you case studies about a few of his own affiliate sites that he is currently making money from, one of which is making him $20k per month. He even talks about a few of his websites that he sold, one of which he sold for $379.000 on eBay.

Being that I’ve been marketing on the internet for over four years now, I already knew about most of what he talked about, but his case studies gave me some new ideas on designing some new niche money making sites.

The SiteBuilderTips.com blog which was originally Glens-Website-Builders.com was created a as a result of reading this book, I run five other affiliate websites but this was the first aimed at internet internet marketing, reason being is because internet marketing is so competitive yet it’s such a small arena. There are hundreds of other industries you can target and make a killing (trust me on this), and that is exactly what The Rich Jerk covers.

For the price that he sells this ebook, it is definitely worth it and he covers a lot more than what these other marketers’ overpriced ebooks offer. Just take a look at this site and keep in mind that it was created as a result of me reading his book and then you decide whether or not it’s worth a try. The book is only 9.95 which is a steal since I paid the original price of $99 when it was first released.
